This 100-year-old Classic Spanish Craftsman located in the charming, tree-lined neighborhood of San Diego’s “South Park” had great bones and beautifully maintained historic details, but the kitchen (and bathrooms) were outdated and in desperate need of a makeover. Our main objectives for this project were to create a more functional floor plan, maximize storage throughout, incorporate modern fixtures, and add a neutral color palette with pops of cobalt blues and olive greens that pays homage to its Spanish/Mediterranean style architecture. For the kitchen, we sourced contemporary, yet down-to-earth light fixtures with black and brass finishes that match other elements in the space. The main focal point is the handmade, hand-painted ceramic wall tile behind the range and custom hood. The Mediterranean-style pattern and subdued blue tones juxtapose perfectly with the lower cabinets and Terracotta hex floor tiles. To complete the space, we added inside-mount linen Roman shades to highlight the restored window frames and allow filtered sunlight to stream throughout.
Project Scope: Renovation | Interior Finishes | Furnishings | Custom Millwork | Custom Window Treatments
